Real Life Math Problem Solving!

By Jimmie (CC BY-2.0)
Sometimes we need math in life.

Try switch 'sometimes' with 'quite frequently.'

Our lives are intricately connected with numbers, symbols, equations; whether you see yourself a mathematician or not, you probably use one or two math related skills on a daily basis.  (yup, telling time and estimating how many more times you can hit the snooze button are 'math' skills!)

We will explore problem solving (in real-life situations) in the coming weeks; there are always multiple ways to solve problem; especially mathematically.  However, sometimes certain situations call for a bit of algebra to help us find the solution more efficiently.  We will review pattern rules, investigate a variety of strategies to solve equations, and learn to create and solve equations when encountering word problems.

Do you have a problem you would like to share with all of us (and let us have a shot at it?)  Share your word problems with our math community in the comment area below!
