Henry = Base Amount. Ann=Henry+250. Joe=Henry+250+375. 250+250+375=875. 2000-875=1125. 1125/3=375. Base Amount=375. Henry=375. Ann=375+250=625. Joe=375+250+375=1000. Henry raised $375, Ann raised $625, and Joe raised $1000. Ratio= 3:5:8
The amount of money Henry raised was $375. To find this, I used trial and error. I estimated that it would be around $300 - $400 , so I just started from $300 and went up (while also finding Ann and Joe's, making sure it would all equal to $2000). Eventually I came up with $375.
Henry - $375 Ann - (Henry + $250) $625 Joe - (Ann + $375) $1000 = $2000
So the ratio was: 375:250:1000 which I simplified to 3:5:8 (by dividing)
Great job! I like when we get to see the use of two different methods to solve the same problem. And yes, the correct answers were: $375, $625, and $1000, respectively.

ReplyDeleteHello.
ReplyDeleteThe amount of money Henry raised was $375.

Henry - $375
Ann - (Henry + $250) $625
Joe - (Ann + $375) $1000
= $2000
So the ratio was:
375:250:1000
which I simplified to
3:5:8 (by dividing)

nicely done... both methods
ReplyDeleteHello!
ReplyDeleteSo far, we know that
Joe has 375 more than Ann
Joe has 625 more than Henry (375 + 250)
Ann has 250 more than Henry
They all collected $2000.00 total.
If we add 625 and 375 together we get 1000.
*1000 is the remaining amount*
And since Joe has 375 more than Ann and 625 more than Henry,
Joe = 1000, Ann = 625, Henry = 375
(1000 - 375) (1000 - 625)
SINCERELY,
Justin, Jatin, John *That's our 2 cents*
