Great job in seeing that Willy's score would be 9.7. See the latest POTW #14 below:

  1. To find the order of these 3 cards, I first made a list of the info the question gave me
    1. The club (C) is to the right of the heart
    2. The five is to the left of the heart (H) (so it's not the club)
    3. The 8 is to the right of the 4
From this information, I identified 1 possibility
    D H C
Then, to find the number pattern, I thought about how the 5 was to the left of the heart, which is in the middle, and the 8 is to the right of the 4. From this I concluded that C = 8, H = 4 and D = 5.

  2. I know the three cards has either 4, 5, or 8

The first clue is that the club is somewhere right to the heart giving the order:
    Diamond, Heart, Club

The second clue was that the 5 is somewhere left to the heart. Using my pattern, that gave me only one option which was the diamond.
    Diamond = 5 | Heart | Club

The last clue was that the 8 was somewhere right of the 4 giving me
    Diamond = 5 | Heart = 4 | Club = 8

  3. To follow the clues easier, I solved each clue, and wrote how the order would look like:
Clue #1:The club is to the right of the heart:
    Diamond | Heart | Club
Clue #2: The 5 is to the left of the heart. This means that the suit left of the heart is a 5:
    Diamond-5 | Heart | Club
Clue #3: The 8 is to the right of the 4. Because I know that the club is to the roght of the heart, I know Iit's value must be 8:
    Diamond-5 | Heart | Club-8
This only leaves a heart and a 4, therefore each value is:
    Diamond-5 | Heart-4 | Club-8

  4. something is to the right of the heart, so the heart is either in the right or center. 5 is to the left of the heart, thus the heart is in the middle, and 8 is to the right of 4, so the heart= 4= middle, club = 8= right, and d = 1 = left.

    1. club is to the right of heart, which is supposedly in the middle.

  5. The order is diamond (5), heart (4), club (8). The first two clues hinted that the heart had a clue on both sides of it so that meant that that was in the middle.
    ? heart ?
The first clue said that the club is on the right of the heart. Which left me with the diamond on the left.
    Diamond, heart, club.
Now that I had the suits in order, I need to match the numbers to the suit. The 5 is left to the hear and the only suit to the left of the heart was the diamond.
    Diamond(5), heart(?), club(?)
The 8 is to the right of the 4. The diamond was a 5 so 8 couldn't be the heart so it had to be the club. That left the heart being the 4.
    Diamond(5), heart(4), club(8)

  6. First, I saw that clues said something was left of the heart, and something was right of the heart. Since there were three cards, that meant that the heart was in the middle. Since the clues stated that the card with the club was to the right of the heart, I was able to say that that the order of the cards is diamonds, hearts, and clubs. Next, I looked at the clue that helped my previously (the 5 is somewhere to the left of the heart). That meant the card to the left of the heart was a 5 of diamonds. Now I had two cards. The clue, 8 is somewhere to the right of 4, gave me the answer. Since 5 was out, and the heart didn't have any 4's to the left of it, that meant that the last card was an 8 of clubs. The middle card was a 4 of hearts. The order, from left to right, was 5 of diamonds, 4 of hearts, and 8 of clubs.

  7. I used the clues to help me in getting my final answer.
Clue 1: The club is somewhere to the right of the heart. This means that the club will be to the right of the heart and the diamond will be to the left.
    Order: Diamond Heart Club
Clue 2: The 5 is to the left of the heart. Since the diamond is left of the heart the 5 has to be the diamond.
Clue 3: The 8 is somewhere to the right of the 4. Since the club is the right most card the 8 has to be the club which means the 4 is a heart.
Therefore, the order will be 5 of diamonds, 4 of hearts, and 8 of clubs.

  8. 5 of diamond equals= 5
    4 of hearts equals= 4
    8 of clubs equals= 8
8 can not be on the most left spot/ right of heart
the second clue gave the whole problem away, this means the order whould be diamonds, hearts than clubs

  9. Club = C, Diamond = D and Heart = H
    1. The club is somewhere to the right of the heart.
    2. The 5 is somewhere to the left of the heart.
    3. The 8 is somewhere to the right of the 4.
So, if the club is to the right of the heart, then: D, H, C or H, D, C. BUT the second clue says that there's something to the left of H, so H must be in the middle. So:
D5, H, C. Add the third clue: D5, H, C8. The only number left is 4. My answer:
    D5, H4, C8.

  10. Since the 8 is right of the 4, and the 5 is next to the heart, then I would say that it goes 5 and then 4 and ends with 8 at the right. Club is the 8, heart is 4 and diamond is 5.
    Diamond=5
    Heart=4
    Club=8

  11. The clubs from left to right are: 5 of diamonds, 4 of hearts, and 8 of clubs.
The first step was to review the facts, the first 2 clues state there are cards that are to the left and to the right of the card with a heart. Since there are only 3 possible positions to be in (left, middle, right), the heart is in the middle. From clue 1, it states that the club is to the right of the heart, since the heart is in the middle, the only possible position for the club is on the very right. Now we have taken care of 2 suits already, so that only leaves diamonds with one position, to the very left. Clue 2 states that the 5 is to the left of the heart. Similar to the club, we know that the heart is in the middle, meaning it can only be to the very left. This means card in the most left position is a 5 of diamonds. The final clue states that the 8 is to the right of the 4, since the 5 is in the most left position, the 4 most be in the center to be able to have an 8 to the right of it. This also means that the 8 is in the rightmost position. Now, I know that the center card is a 4 of hearts and the right card is an 8 of diamonds.

  12. Heres how I solved the question:
so first it said that the club was at the right of the heart, so the heart must be on the left or in the middle, meaning the club can only be in the middle or on the right.
Then it said that 5 was on the left of the heart, that means the heart can only be in the middle because if it was on the left no number could be beside it, this also meant that the club was on the right.
Since the positions of the heart and club are found that could only mean that the diamond is on the left because that was the only spot left. This also means that the card on the left was the 5 of diamonds because the 5 is left from the heart.
The finally clue said that 8 was on the left of 4, meaning that the club was 8 and the heart was 4 because the club was of the left of the heart.
In the end the order was 5 of diamonds, 4 of hearts, and 8 of clubs.

  13. The heart is in the middle because it has stuff to its left and right, the club is last because it says that it is to right of the heart and the heart is in the middle, so that means that the order is Diamond, Heart, Club. Time to find the numbers, If 5 is to left of the heart, then that means that the diamond is a 5, and if the 8 is to the right of 4, then 8 is the club and 4 is the heart.

    5 Diamond, 4 Heart, 8 Club.

  14. Okay, our three clues are:
    1. The club is somewhere to the right of the heart
    2. The 5 is somewhere to the left of the heart
    3. The eight is somewhere to the right of the four
What I have learned from these is:
The heart has a left card and right so it must be in the middle
If the heart is in the middle the club is on the far right
The 5 is on the far left
    The four has a right
The eight could be in the middle or the far right
Actually, the eight can not be in the middle because if it is, the four is on the far left, but the 5 is on the far left.
So the eight is the club on the far right
Therefor, the 4 is the heart in the middle
Si the ones remaining, the diamond and the 5 are on the far left.

These are my findings in order:
    First to last:
The 5 diamond card is first
The 4 Heart card is next,
The 8 club, is the last card on the far right

    ReplyDelete
  15. because the second question says that the 5 is left to the heart the diamond must be the 5 then it says the 8 is to the right of the 4 that means the 4 is the club and the diamond is the 8

  16. Clues:
The club is right of the heart
The 5 is left of the heart
The 8 is to the right of the 4
This tells us that the heart is in the middle with the club on the right, meaning that the diamond is on the left. It goes: Diamond, Heart, Club.
We also know that the card left of the heart is the 5, so now it goes: 5 of Diamonds, Heart, Club.
So, if the four has a card on the right, the far left space is already taken up, so our final answer is that it goes: 5 of Diamonds, 4 of Hearts, 8 of Clubs.

  17. Started off acknowledging the information given to me. Then since there are only 3 cards and there was a club to the right of the heart and a 5 on the left, the heart is in the middle. Now knowing that the club is to the right of the heart and the diamond is on the left which is a 5 I started figuring out the numbers on the heart and club. Since I know the number on the right to the heart, I know that 4 is the number to the right of the club making the club the 8. Club:8 Heart:4 Diamond:5

  18. Because the heart has a clue to both the left and right of it, it must be in th middle. That makes the clubs n the far right and diamonds the far left card. Since the leftmost card is a 5 that makes diamonds a 5, the middle card cant be a 8 so it has to be a 4. and the left most card is the diamond
Therefore, The card are : A 8 of clubs, a 4 of hearts and a 5 of diamonds

  19. My work was done hard copy, but here is my answer:
8 of clubs, 4 of hearts & 5 of diamonds

  20. I used the three clues in order to solve this problem, which were that the club was to the right of the heart, the 5 was to the left of the heart, and that the 8 is to the right of the four. I immediately noticed that the last clue was similar to how the club was to the right of the heart, and decided to see if that order could help me solve the rest of the question.

    My order so far:
    4,8

The second clue was that the 5 was to the left of the heart. This worked perfectly with my current order, as putting the 5 to the left of the four did not change anything. Using this clue, I came to my final answer, which was:

    5,4,8. Or Diamond, Heart, Club.
