If Willy get's a average score of 6.8 on the first five events, the he had 34 points in the first five games 6.8 x 5 = 34 (first five events) on the next three events, he scored 7.2 (6,7, and 8 event) 7.2 x 3 = 21.6 Together added, he had 55.6 points in 8 games 34 + 21.6 = 55.6 19.4 is the average of points needed to get in the last two games to get the total of 75 points. 75 - 55.6 = 19.4
6.8 x 5 = 34 7.2 x 3 = 21.6 34 + 21.6 = 55.6 75 - 55.6 = 19.4 x2 = 19.4 19.4 / 2 = 9.7 His average score must be 9.7. I got this by first determining the amount of points Willy got so far and subtracted that from 75. then I divided that by 2 to get what his average score must be for the final 2 events.
We can solve this by finding the average out of 8 games, and then find the score he will need for the 9th and 10th event. 6.8 x 5 games= 34 points 7.2x 3 games= 21.6 points 8 games= 55.6 75 points -55.6= 19.4 19.4 points in 2 games= 9.7 points each game to advance.
Willy must get 19.4 points in 2 games or an average of 9.7 points each game! Better luck next time, Willy.
If Willy's first average score was a total of 6.8, for the first 5 events, then to find the overall points scored you would multiply 6.8 by the amount of events(5): 6.8 x 5 = 34 Therefore, 34 is the total amount of points scored in the first 5 events. To find the overall amount of points scored in the next 3 events, you would multiply the average and the amount of events again: 7.2 x 3 = 21.6 Then, I added the first two totals together: 34 + 21.6 = 55.6 This was the amount of points for the first 8 events. To find the last average needed, I subtracted 55.6 from 75: 75 - 55.6 = 19.4 Because there was a total of 10 events, and 8 were already completed, I know that 2 events are left. Therefore, I divided 19.4 by 2 to find the last average: 19.4 ÷ 2 = 9.7 The smallest average that he could have gotten to get to 75 points in his last 2 events is 9.7 or 19.4 points.
In the first 5 events, willy got a 6.8 average. In the next 3 events, he got a 7.2 average. 5*6.8= 34 3*7.2=21.6 34 + 21.6= 55.6
that means he has 55.6 points so far. 75-55.6= 19.4
So he needs 19.4 point in the next 2 events to move forward to regional. 19.4/2 = 9.7. Therefore he needs at least a 9.7 in both of the next events to get into regionals.
In the next 2 rounds, he needs to get an average of 9.7. I did the reverse of what you do to find average to answer this question. So that means, I multiply his average by the amount of games that average was of. So in the first 5 rounds, his average was 6.8, 6.8*5 is equal to 34, his total score in the first 5 rounds. In the next 3 rounds, his average was 7.2, 7.2*3 is equal to 21.6, his total score in the next 3 rounds. Add these 2 scores up totaling to 55.6. If he needs at least 75 points, and we are trying to find what his average should be in the next 2 rounds, we should subtract 55.6 from 75 leaving us with 19.4. This is the total score of the points he gains in the lat 2 rounds. Since this is not the average already, we divide it by the number of rounds it represents, 2. So 19.4/2 gives us the quotient of 9.7, the average he needs to get in the next to rounds to get exactly 75 points.
So far Willy has a 6.8 average and a 7.2 average. I need to find his total points. 5 x 6.8 = 34 and 3 x 7.2 = 21.6 and 34 + 21.6 = 55.6 Therefor, he now has 55.6 points and 75 minus 55.6 is 19.4 He needs 19.4 points to get at least 75 points. 19.4 divided by the 2 events is 9.7 In the end willy is going to have to get at least a 9.7 average in both to get 75 points or more.
Since in the first 5 events he got 6.8 and we know that to find an average u divide by the number of numbers it is 6.8x5=34. Then to continue he got 7.2 as an average for 3 . 3x7.2=21.6. I then did 21.6+34 to find the amount he got in the first 8 events. 21.6+34=55.6. So then, to find the amount of scores he still requires I did 75-55.6= 19.4. Since there are 2 events left I did 19.4/2=9.7. he needs an average of 9.7 in his last 2 events.
The first 5 events had the average of 6.8 . I multiply the average by the amount of events done to get to the total. 6.8 * 5 = 34. the next 3 events had an average of 7.2, I do the same thing again because its in the same situation with different numbers. 7.2 * 3 = 21.6. I add them together to get the total score. 34 + 21.6 = 55.6. then I take that away from the goal of 75 points. 75 - 55.6 = 19.4. Because they ask for the total average for round 9 and 10, I divide it by the two rounds left. 19.4 = 9.7. He needs an average of 9.7 per round to advance. Because of his previous two averages, I would assume that he never advanced past this point.
To find what Willy must average on his last few events, I first worked backward from the averages given. The first 5 events had an average of 6.8 So I multiplied 6.8 by the amount of events (5) = 34 points in the first 5 events The next 3 events had an average of 7.2, so I multiplied that by 3 = 21.6 points in the next 3 events The question asks "What must Willy average on his last 2 events to get an average of 75 points?" So to find that, I added the other points: 75 - ( 34 + 21.6) = 12.4, so Willy needs to achieve 12.4 points in his last 2 events. 12.4 / 2 = 6.2 The average Willy needs to achieve on his last 2 events is 12.4
We alraedy know the average of 2/3 of his events, so we find the events in total. The first 5 events had an average of 6.8, which is a total of 34. The next 3 events had an average of 7.2, which is a total of 21.6. I then added these to see what he has so far. 34 + 21.6 = 55.6 Then I subtract that from 75 to get what he needs. 75 - 55.6 = 19.4 He needs 19.4 points to advance to the regional level.
Since Willy had an average of 6.8 in the first 5 events he had 34 points (6.8 x 5 = 34). 75 is the amount he needs to get in, so 75-34= 41, he needs 41 more points. Next, I know he got an average of 7.2 in the next 3 rounds. So, 7.2 x 3 = 21.6. 41-21.6= 19.4. 19.4 points to go. He has two more rounds left, round 9 and 10. Therefore, I divided 19.4 by 2 to get the answer of 9.7.
If Willy get's a average score of 6.8 on the first five events, the he had 34 points in the first five games
ReplyDelete6.8 x 5 = 34 (first five events)
on the next three events, he scored 7.2 (6,7, and 8 event)
7.2 x 3 = 21.6
Together added, he had 55.6 points in 8 games
34 + 21.6 = 55.6
19.4 is the average of points needed to get in the last two games to get the total of 75 points.
75 - 55.6 = 19.4
and since he has 2 more events left, you'd divide it by 2 to get 9.7
Delete19.4 ÷ 2 = 9.7
Willy has to get the average of 9.7 and the next two events
6.8 x 5 = 34
ReplyDelete7.2 x 3 = 21.6
34 + 21.6 = 55.6
75 - 55.6 = 19.4
x2 = 19.4
19.4 / 2 = 9.7
His average score must be 9.7. I got this by first determining the amount of points Willy got so far and subtracted that from 75. then I divided that by 2 to get what his average score must be for the final 2 events.
We can solve this by finding the average out of 8 games, and then find the score he will need for the 9th and 10th event.
ReplyDelete6.8 x 5 games= 34 points
7.2x 3 games= 21.6 points
8 games= 55.6
75 points -55.6= 19.4
19.4 points in 2 games= 9.7 points each game to advance.
Willy must get 19.4 points in 2 games or an average of 9.7 points each game! Better luck next time, Willy.
If Willy's first average score was a total of 6.8, for the first 5 events, then to find the overall points scored you would multiply 6.8 by the amount of events(5):
ReplyDelete6.8 x 5 = 34
Therefore, 34 is the total amount of points scored in the first 5 events. To find the overall amount of points scored in the next 3 events, you would multiply the average and the amount of events again:
7.2 x 3 = 21.6
Then, I added the first two totals together:
34 + 21.6 = 55.6
This was the amount of points for the first 8 events. To find the last average needed, I subtracted 55.6 from 75:
75 - 55.6 = 19.4
Because there was a total of 10 events, and 8 were already completed, I know that 2 events are left. Therefore, I divided 19.4 by 2 to find the last average:
19.4 ÷ 2 = 9.7
The smallest average that he could have gotten to get to 75 points in his last 2 events is 9.7 or 19.4 points.
In the first 5 events, willy got a 6.8 average.
ReplyDeleteIn the next 3 events, he got a 7.2 average.
5*6.8= 34
3*7.2=21.6
34 + 21.6= 55.6
that means he has 55.6 points so far.
75-55.6= 19.4
So he needs 19.4 point in the next 2 events to move forward to regional.
19.4/2 = 9.7.
Therefore he needs at least a 9.7 in both of the next events to get into regionals.
I did it hard copy
ReplyDeleteThanks for telling me Angelina.

ReplyDeleteSo far Willy has a 6.8 average and a 7.2 average. I need to find his total points.
ReplyDelete5 x 6.8 = 34 and 3 x 7.2 = 21.6 and 34 + 21.6 = 55.6

So I multiplied 6.8 by the amount of events (5) = 34 points in the first 5 events
The next 3 events had an average of 7.2, so I multiplied that by 3 = 21.6 points in the next 3 events
The question asks "What must Willy average on his last 2 events to get an average of 75 points?"
So to find that, I added the other points:
75 - ( 34 + 21.6) = 12.4, so Willy needs to achieve 12.4 points in his last 2 events.
12.4 / 2 = 6.2
The average Willy needs to achieve on his last 2 events is 12.4
We alraedy know the average of 2/3 of his events, so we find the events in total.
ReplyDeleteThe first 5 events had an average of 6.8, which is a total of 34.
The next 3 events had an average of 7.2, which is a total of 21.6.
I then added these to see what he has so far.
34 + 21.6 = 55.6
Then I subtract that from 75 to get what he needs.
75 - 55.6 = 19.4
He needs 19.4 points to advance to the regional level.
