  1. There will be 2400cm2 carpeted, and 10800cm2 painted. I know this since:

    The stairs will be carpeted. The steps are equal dimensions depth, and hight.

    The entire set has 4 steps of stairs having the total of 120cm. Then each stair is 1/4 of 120. Since the depth and hight is the same, it is also 1/4 of 120.
    120 / 4 = 30cm
    There are 8 panels of rectangles that share the dimensions 30cm by 100cm.
    30cm x 100cm = 3000cm2
    3000cm2 x 8 = 24000cm2
    The carpeted area is 24000cm2.

    Now for the painted area.
    The dimensions for the staircase if it were to be a square is 120cm2 by 120cm2.
    Since its a staircase, I notice that there's 10 30cm by 30cm squares missing.

    The side of the stair case is 10 30cm by 30cm squares minus
    120cm x 120cm = 14400
    30cm x 30cm = 900cm2
    900cm2 x 10 = 9000cm2
    14400 - 9000 = 5400cm2
    Since there's 2 side of the staircase, then next step would be to multiply it by 2,
    5400cm2 x 2 = 10800cm2
    The painted area is 10800cm2.

  2. I first to figure out each step height and width which were both thirty. Than I realized that I could split the stair case into 10 30 by 30 squares. Now I can multiply 30 x 30 ten times to get 9000 which is the surface area of one side I multiply it by two to get 18000 cm of paint. For the carpet i can split it into 8 rectangles of 100 by 30. To get to total area, I multiply 100 by 30 by 8 to get 24000. You will need 1800 cm of paint and 24000 cm of carpet

  3. To find the amount to be painted and carpeted, I first found the measurements of each step.
    Carpeting:
    There are four steps, and I divided the height of the set of stairs by the amount of steps (120/4 = 30 = 30cm for the height of each step). The width of the steps is 100cm, and I then multiplied the height X width to get the area per step/step-like-face (30 X 100 = 300cm2). There are 8 steps/step-like-faces, so I multiply 300cm2 by 8 = 2400cm2. There is 2400cm2 to carpet.
    Painting:
    The sides of the stairs need to be painted, so like the carpeting, I first separated the large chunk of side-of-stairs into four pieces and divided the heights (120cm, 90cm, 60cm, 30cm) and widths (30cm, 30cm, 30cm, 30cm). Then I multiplied:
    120 X 30 = 3600cm2
    90 x 30 = 2700cm2
    60 x 30 = 1800cm2
    30 x 30 = 900cm2
    The I added all those areas together to get the total area of one of the sides of the stairway: 3600 + 2700 + 1800 + 900 = 9000cm2. There is two sides, so you then multiply that by 2: 18000cm2. 18000cm2 has to be painted.
    Answer:
    2400cm2 to be carpeted
    18000cm2 to be painted

  4. Firstly, I looked at the area to be carpeted. since the steps are congruent I just needed to find the area of one face and then multiply by 8 since there are 8 faces in total. Therefore, the area is 30(120/4) x 100=3,000 cm 2.
    3,000 x 8+24,000 cm 2 of total area that needs to be carpeted.
    Then, I found the area of the 2 sides which I divided into 4 rectangles:
    (30 x 30) + (60 x 30) + (90 x 30) + (120 x 30) x 2=18,000 cm 2 of total paint.

    Therefore, the total area to be carpeted is 24,000 cm 2 while the total area to be painted is 18,000 cm 2.

  5. I noticed first that the area of the stairs is the area of two faces 120x100 each. that means the carpeted area is 24000cm2.
    That is the area carpeted.
    Now the painted side is harder to figure out.
    I divided 120 by 4, as in 4 steps to the staircase which gets you 30cm. Now we know that the divided squares are 30cm by 30cm. And there are 9 (by counting visually)
    30x30=900
    900x10=9000
    9000x2=180000

    therefore the carpet is 240000cm2
    and the paint will cover 180000cm2

  6. First I looked at the figure and saw that the figure could be divided into rectangular prisms. Since the figure had a side length of 4 rectangular prisms I divided 120 by 4 (120 being the total side length) and found that one rectangular face is 900 cm2. ( I will be calling the rectangular face a square for now while finding the amount of painted area)

    So after looking at the shape again I see that the side consist of 10 squares because of the missing spots for the stairs. To find the total area of one side I took 90cm2 and multiplied it by ten to get 9000cm2 so one side is 9000cm2. since there is two sides I then multiplyed 9000 by 2 and got 18 000cm2 so the total painted area is 18 000cm2.

    For the steps and carpeting I saw that the faces were congruent so all I had to do was find the area for one face and multiply it by 8 because there was 8 faces from the four steps.I found that the area of the face was equal to 30cm x 100cm which means the area for one face is 3000 cm2 so 3000* 8 to get the total area of carpet is 24 000 cm2 so the total area to be carpeted is 24 000 while the total area to be painted is 18 000 cm2

  11. To find the amount carpeted, I multiplied the width and length, and the height and length. Then I added them together:
    120x100=12000 + 12000= 24000
    Therefore, 24000cm2 need to be carpeted.
    By counting visually, I saw that there are 10 squares there, each measuring 30cmx30cm. So, I multiplied 30x30 which is equal to 900cm. Then I multiplied 900 by 10, as there are 10 squares on one side.
    900x10=9000cm
    As there are 10 squares on one side, I multiplied 9000 by 2.
    9000x2=18000cm2. Therefore, 18000cm2 need to be painted.

  12. First I found the area that had to be painted. All the sides of the steps were congruent, indicated by the lines on the sides. There was a total of 8 rectangles as steps in the picture. So for the length it was 100cm and for the width it was 120 / 4. 120 / 4 = 30 . So the lengths or one rectangle was 30 x 100. To fin the area we have to do 30 x 100 to get 3000cm squared. Then you multiply that by 8, the amount of rectangles needed to be painted. 3000 x 8 = 24000cm squared. So the total area to be painted was 24000cm squared.

    Now I have to find the carpeted area. So I know that the width of the rectangles were 30cm. So since the sides of the side were both 120cm i knew that it could make a square if the measurements were the same on the other side. So I saw that I could find the area of a bunch of smaller squares to find the area. So as I said before the width was 30cm. I knew that I could do 30x30 to make a square. 30x30=900 If you visualized rows on the steps, it gets larger or smaller depending on how you look at it each step. So on the bottom there is one 30 by 30 square and on the second there are 2 and the pattern continues. So 1+2+3+4 = 10 Then I did 900x10 to get 9000cm squared which is the area of one of the carpeted areas. So then we double that. 9000 x 2 = 18000cm squared.

    18000cm squared is the total area of the carpeted spots and 24000cm squared is the total area of the painted spots. If you wanted to add them up it would be a total area of 42000cm squared(24000+18000).

  13. To start off, there are 4 stairs which add up to a length and height of 120cm. 120/4= 30. The height of each stair and the length of each stair is 30cm. The stairs have a width of 100 cm. that will help me figure out the area to carpet. there are 8 faces on the stairs, so it is 30 * 100 * 8 = x. 30 * 100 = 3000 * 8 = 24000. The carpeted are is 24000cm2. The question states that one side of the side of the stairs that is shaded will be painted. there is only one place shown in the diagram. since the height of 120 and the length on 120 was made partially by the stairs, i will take it away from the length and height. 120 - 30 = 90 cm. now that its a triangle, i will multiply, then divide it by 2. 90 * 90 =8100cm2. but the sides of the stairs also means the square parts. 30 * 30 = 900 * 4 =3600cm2, 3600 + 8100 = 11700cm2.

    The carpeted area is : 24000cm2
    The painted area is: 11700cm2
