if AD= 12 and CE=1, then the radius, BE/BD = 12+1=13 using the Pythagoras theorem, BD= square root of (sum of squares of BC and CD.) therefore, 169=square root of (144 + 25). since BD=13, BC has to be 12. CD=5 cm (as it is square root of 25) so, if BF=AB+AF, and BF=12 and AB=5, AF has to be 8cm.
the length of BE is 13cm to do this u must use the triangle and one of its bases is 12 cm and since it is a 30 60 90 triangle the BA is 6 cms meaning that AF IS 13 - 6

The length of AF is FB - AB. (I actually have no idea)

ReplyDeleteWow Aparna! The only one to get it correct, great work! Do you see how Aparna obtained the correct answer of segment AF = 8cm?
